WHO ARE WE?

The International African Arts Festival (IAAFestival) began in 1971 and has been a part of Brooklyn cultural landscape for almost five decades. Each year, a committed team of board members, consultants, part-time seasonal staff and volunteers, work together to transform a city park into an outdoor African cultural oasis that celebrates traditional and contemporary expressions of various African cultures.

Over the years, the stages of the Festival has featured renowned artists such as Blue Magic, Steel Pulse,The Mighty Sparrow, Fela Anikulapo- Kuti, KRS-1, Lauryn Hill, India Arie and many other artists who grew to achieve national and international acclaim.

Together We Make It!

The African market place offers an array of one of a kind, handcrafted, original designs of merchandise ranging from: jewelry, traditional and urban fashion, t-shirts, body oils to imported African fabric, home artifacts and furniture, original paintings, hand-carved marble sculptures and much more.

The outdoor Food Court offers an array of scrumptious foods from traditional soul food to spicy Caribbean dishes, as well as African, Latin, vegetarian, seafood and even gourmet style raw foods. As a community-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization IAAFestival attracts vendors and attendees from all over the globe. The IAAFestival offers live family focused entertainment and resources to the community.
